Towage & Breakdown Assistance
When a vessel experiences mechanical failure or loss of propulsion, we provide marine breakdown assistance across the Solent. We assess the situation and, where possible, help resolve minor issues on site before arranging safe escort or controlled towage to a suitable berth.
Inshore Towage & Vessel Movements
We undertake inshore towage and planned vessel movements within harbours, rivers and coastal waters in and around the solent. This includes moving disabled vessels, assisting with berthing, and supporting relocations where additional control or power is required.
All towage operations are planned with consideration given to vessel size, condition, weather, traffic and local requirements, using suitable equipment and established safe systems of work.
Breakdown Response & On-Water Assistance
We regularly provide marine breakdown assistance and towage support throughout the Solent, including Southampton Water, the Hamble River, Portsmouth Harbour, Cowes and even up to Poole, Brighton and surrounding South Coast waters. For planned towage and vessel movements, we can also operate beyond the Solent subject to conditions and vessel suitability.
Common Breakdown Issues We Assist With
We regularly assist vessels experiencing a range of common on-water issues. Where possible, we aim to identify and help resolve minor faults on site before arranging towage.
Typical issues include:

- Electrical faults and connection issues
- Fuel contamination or supply problems
- Cooling system concerns
- Propeller fouling or rope entanglement
- Steering or control issues
- General loss of propulsion
If the issue cannot be resolved safely on the water, we will provide controlled escort or towage to a suitable berth.
